I noticed recently there there are new members (been around a few months) that are hitting resident and in the 1k post counts.. Wth is happening... Ive been here 2.6(:P) years and i havnt hit the 1k mark yet, im more than happy to just lurk and read the posts :)
I suppose a lot depends both on the individual and the quality of the posts.
First, if the posts are not contributing to the topics, then, yes, they would be spam. But, if they are quality posts, or posts that do contribute to the conversation in any given thread, then quantity or frequency of posts wouldn't seem to be an issue.
Secondly, some people just make different uses of discussion forums according to their individual tastes and circumstances. Some people may like to write more, while others (perhaps like yourself) like to take a slower approach. Also, some people may just have more time on their hands for participation. I know some days I have several hours to goof around and other days I am lucky if I get to check my e-mail. So, besides spam, there could be individual differences in users as to why some people post a lot while others don't.
Being new myself, I won't claim to immediately know everything about how the Simviation forums are administered, but I would be willing to bet that if you spotted an excessive amount of spam and brought it up to the admins, they would probably be very willing to do something about it.
My humble 2 yen (a bit less than 2 cents, but I live in Japan) would be, report the spam and then move on to the parts you enjoy. Probably about the best any of us can do. Heck, it's kind of what I do in real life, too! ;D
