1. No Plastic containers in microwaves.
2. No Water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent out newsletters. Dioxin Chemicals cause cancer especially breast cancer. As you freeze your plastic bottles with water in them it releases dioxins. Dr. Edward Fujimoto talked about the health hazards. He said we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. The combination of fat and high heat and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into cells of the body.

He suggests using glass, Corning Ware or ceramic containers for heating food instead of plastics.

All foods such as TV Dinners, instant ramen, soups, etc. should be removed from the original packageing before heating them. Paper is OK but sometimes you don't know what is in the paper. Using tempered glass is the safest thing.

Saran wrap is dangerous when placed over food to be cooked. The high heat melts the chemicals and drip into the food.

Forward to friends and family. ;)

If people from Johns Hopkins of any other medical place took a visit to people's homes they would probably get mad at the things people do

Microwaves are not the tool you need for tasty food. good as a defroster but nothing beats a good old fashioned oven

Ovens are like a set of socket wrenches.

I've prepared many a tasty meal in the microwave. It's quicker and doesn't heat up the kitchen like the oven does, which to me is a big plus in summertime..

Having no viable kitchen, and having been a crew chief in a huge microwave unit (SAM radar), I'm relegated to the safe usage of a microwave oven; being well aware of the danger (toxic or otherwise), I have no intention of crawling into a plastic container in a microwave oven. Neither, as one lady reportedly did, have I any intention of placing my damp dog, or any other wet pet, in a microwave oven to give it a "quick dry."
:o ::)

8-)
