Gravity Wave?

Has anyone ever heard of this phenomena?  Apparently when a warm air rises, it can create a kind of a rolling wave in the atmosphere...

Here is an example of what I mean.  Pretty cool stuff.  I would love to see one in person...

Wow... looks like when you're underwater, looking up at the waves. Nature can throw some wierd and wonderful stuff out at ya...

:-? I never heard of this phenomenon before ,Einstein predict the gravity waves traveling tru the space

But I can't understand why does cloud behave like this,Could be Moons gravity?

It looks pretty. But I wonder if you can really see it unless you would look at the same point in the sky for a long time.

Crash ;)

Whoa, very nice phenomenon... Perhaps you have seen this before, but didn't notice it because of the slow speed... It's a crazy world up there, just keep an eye on the skies!

Cloud formations are fascinating when filmed, and viewed, at high speed.
Clouds curling over, on the Lee side of mountains are particularly interesting when sped up!...;)...

...nothing unusual, though... :)...!

Paul....A cloud enthusiast... 8-)...!

An abundance of clouds means I am likely to get wet on my Bike... ::)...!
LOL... ;D...!

Do Hangman's victims wave at gravity?... ::)...?

Not the same thing at all... Using "gravity wave" to describe an atmospheric phenomenon is a little misleading. sometimes they're called "atmospheric gravity waves".

As stated above, think of a pebble dropping into a pond... only upside-down. The "gravity waves" are ripples, and a powerful mass of rising air is the pebble. It penetrates the surrounding stable layer, creating waves which spread out from the center.
