Don't play with explosives!

Yesterday I bought a new Leatherman tool, well a Gerber actually. My Leatherman whilst 15 years old had been repaired twice by Leatherman and has broken again through material failure, so I decided to buy a Gerber instead. Whilst visiting some friends in Frankfurt I took the opportunity (and this may be the link to the question) to pay PX prices and not German mortgage prices. The tool was factore sealed and had never been opened.
Inside was the usual warning, be careful this is not a toy, and the knife is sharpe ::) ::) etc. However the attached picture was also inside. Can anyone give me an idea of the link between a pair of pliers and a clear warning about playing with explosives. Maybe this batch of tools was meant for Al Queda or a White Supremacy group.

This just confirms what I've been saying for years. The world is rapidly being taken over by ridiculous & unnecessary Health & Safety regulations. They've created a brand new industry from nothing & some people are making a fortune out of it, just like the Quallity Assurance business a few years ago. If we let them get away with this nonsense there will soon be safety warnings on everything. If you're not convinced here's another example. Churches incensed by 'stop smoking' signs

PS. This sort of thing is the main reason I took early retirement. I found it impossible to deal with these people.

wow, never new about that hagar, and that is pure stupidity, society has its problems but most people (around here) still respect the churches.

UK government = eejits of the highest caliber.

then again, when the government is made up of nothing but brown nosers things get stupid.

I took this a couple of years ago at Shoreham Airport. It sums up my feelings on the subject perfectly.

Somebody probably stuck the wrong warning in there... but it wouldn't surprise me if there was some bizarre lawsuit involving a multitool and a stick of dynamite...  ::)

My "favorites":  the "talking escalators" that warn you to be careful on the escalator... and this:

Supposedly 20 children drown in buckets in the US every year... and every one of those buckets has this warning, no doubt.  ::)

"Aw, jeez... we can't sue the bucket manufacturer, 'cuz there's a warning label... oh well, let's just make another baby; we'll get it right next time."

It's just like that "may contain traces of peanuts" line on a Snickers bar.  ::)

Actually... It's a small miracle that there hasn't been a lawsuit in which an illiterate person sued a manufacturer for discrimination...

I mean.... How are they supposed to read the warning labels :D

Excellent.

I've got tons of these on my pc seeing as I'm a Health & Safety Manager.

I agree with you Hagar, it's gone too far in the name of Safety and unfortunately mostly due to the claim culture that we now live in (even in the UK now).

I read in the paper last week that bar-b-q's are banned due to health and safety reasons, such a load of crap!!

I mean there's nothing wrong with a cut down oil drum filled with petrol and a mesh on top of it  ;) ;)
