I don't think they're suicidal... a dog might disregard its own safety for good reason, or make a mistake and jump where it shouldn't, but when they're really depressed, dogs just stop eating and lie down somewhere... they don't jump off bridges. It is odd that it's happened numerous times at this same bridge, though...

Saw a program about this very bridge a few months ago, the researchers did numerous tests & deduced that the dogs had their sight limited by the bridges low walls, but were picking up scents of wildlife, badger sets etc. from the woodland below the bridge - the bridge is at the end of a wooded road/path & the dogs (with limited sight from the low bridge walls) were picking up strong scents & just jumping over the wall - expecting there still to be woodland on the other side.

A case of leaping before they looked.

Cheers,

TSC.

What??!?!?!

"Caninous"? Do you mean "canis", as in "canis domesticus"?

:D

I think I know what you mean, but... LOL!!

But I shouldn't laugh... I can't even remember the Spanish word for "dog"....
:D

As I thought... a classic canine blunder. Like how my dog, despite having lost a leg to a car, will hobble right out into the street if I don't stop her... like most dogs, when she's smart, she's very smart... but when she's stupid, she's extremely stupid. :D

No need! Let them do what they want to...even if it's killing themselves! :D
