Just now saw this on Yahoo news, it's sad and very shocking.  I'm off work at 4, so will tune in to get more details.

Terrible news. The families of the deceased are in my prayers.

I just saw some mobile phone footage of the incident. Sends shivers down your spine as you can clearly hear 7-8 gunshots....

:(

I have close relatives living in Virginia. I've been trying to contact them lately to see if they're alright. So far, I only heard that my aunt is picking up my cousin. Looks like they heard the news.

What's really sad is that this is nothing new; take, for example, the tragedy that inspired the song in the first place:

On 29 January 1979, 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer opened fire on children arriving at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego from her house across the street, killing two men and wounding eight students and a police officer. Principal Burton Wragg was attempting to rescue children in the line of fire when he was shot and killed, and custodian Mike Suchar was slain attempting to aid Wragg.

Spencer used a rifle her father had given her as a gift. As to what impelled her into this form of murderous madness, she told a reporter,''I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day.''

My first thoughts, when I heard about somone having run amok, were like "Please not in Germany, please not!"*.

Nonetheless a rather bad way to start a week.  :(

*The consequences here would have been devastating...

It was a bit unnerving to first read this story while I was sitting in class myself, luckily half-way across the country though.

I just don't get it...

It's a terrible event and I hope the best for all involved.

I know.

And every further event of this kind will lead to even harsher restrictions concerning video games...a development I strongly oppose.
When the massacres of Erfurt and Emsdetten happened, everyone blindly fired away at games like Counter Strike and the dangers for teenagers, etc..., but no one, not a fuckin' single person pulled their consequences out of the fact that the guy got his hands on a weapon so easily or what turned himself into a brainless minion of despise and hate in the first place.

Our armageddon will be the american authorities finding out that he played shooter games and german politicians getting to know this.

I, as a gamer who enjoys playing shooters once in a while, am sick of getting put on one step with pedophiles and other criminals of those likes by politicians who haven't even touched a PC.

Bottom line: Not only the victims are suffering...
