The boys in their red jump suits, that is........unfortunately, it's raining and will be for the next few day......but like every year, they're here for almost three weeks so that should present at least a couple of photo-ops for the hardy........will endeavour to grab a pic or two without getting shot from the golf course right next to the base in Comox.....

I've never seen the snowbirds.  The only precision military teams I've seen have been the Americans: Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, and that's because that's about all we get here across the pond in my little area of the country.  Anyone seen both?  I'd assume the planes the snowbirds fly make for a more precision show.  F18s and F16s are exciting birds but they're big, heavy, and complicated compared to the apparently smaller Snowbirds.

I'd assume one could argue endlessly about which pilots are better, but I'd think that'd be a lost cause: at that level I don't think anyone can discern "better" as they all seem to operate on an equal plane (no pun intended).

If you get a chance for a photo shoot will you try to find out what aircraft they are looking at to replace the Canadiar Tutors?

The rumour is an update version of the BAE Hawk however I hear some pilots and brass would love to see something like the Harrier jump jet.  
What a versatile show that would be.  
I am not sure what the maintenance or training costs would be on that though.

The Harrier would definetly make for a fantastic show, however unless the aircraft is used in Canadian Forces operations not a likely contender.
However there is rumour we might be building our own ice breaking capable carriers for three oceans.  Then the Harrier would be something to look at unless we get back into building and designing our own equipment which many of the public and top brass seem to be positive about as well.
