I'm sitting at my PC, the TV is on in the background and they've just mentioned that Gary Player is competing in his 50th SUCCESSIVE

Mr. Player will make (or by this time has made) his 50th start at The Masters this year.

I do not know what "successive" means but it does not mean "consecutive".

The current record of 50 consecutive - every year - starts belongs to Arnold Palmer.

I believe that Mr. Player missed a year because of an injury but I can not quickly find a reference to that fact.  The Official Masters site shows that Mr. Player does not have even 35 consecutive starts.

Mr. Player will always be remembered foremost as the first "athlete" golfer, following a regimen of diet and training, and second as "the guy who just had to beat Arnold Palmer's record of 50 Masters starts".  But he won't beat Arnie's record of 50 consecutive starts for another 30 years or so.

Actualy, its quite fun cycling around the track screaming FOUR, or trying to hit other golfers with the balls.

I wonder if anyone had mentioned or used the consecutive starts stat until someone else was about to top the "most starts" stat...

...oh cynical me! ;D

Well done to him though, although 1000 crunches (not Crunchies) every morning is a bit steep! ;)
