Aggravating Adds

Postby Triple_7 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 10:25 pm

As if website adds werent bad enough already, I've been noticing a new trend lately and thats been animated adds with sound.  Slows a page down even worse then the plain animated ones.  Annoying as hell when sitting here listening to music and something either starts humming, talking, or downright blows your ear drums out >:(  Honestly...I dont care about whatever junk their trying to sell, adding sound to that add only drives me farther away from the 0% chance I might click on it.

Is there any way to block these kinds of adds or at least a setting to turn off the sound :-/  I just want to surf in peace and not have my music interupted by one of these bloody adds >:(

Another annoying one I find mostly on weather.com is an animated popup that comes out in the middle of your screen but not in the standard new window.  also follows you down as you scroll.  Makes you hunt forever just to find the blasted X >:(

There ought to be a ban on these things.  1 out of a million might accualy click on it, so why the hell do they feel the urge to annoy the rest of us with their junk.

Pop-Up blocker wouldnt solve the main problem.  I had one for awhile, but it only stopped the ones that opened as a new window, these new ones are embedded in the page your looking at.  With Mozzilla I barely get any popups at all other then these.

The ones I really have a problem with are not the pop-ups, they are the standard add most websites use.  Now they are becoming overloaded with animation and the annoying sounds, one I managed to get the specs on was over 600K in size :o  Even on my speed it slowed the page load time down considerably >:(  Pop-up blockers do not control these adds since they are embedded in the page you are viewing.  I just want a way to turn off the sound :-/

Get FireFox with the Ad-Block extention. It blocks the banners from even showing up on the page, and just leaves a blank space/moves everything together, makes alot of web pages look tidier  ;)
