question about my broadband contract

Postby VVM » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:43 pm

hi all.

im currently getting my broadband service from orange as it comes free with my mobile phone contract.  i dont want the broadband anymore as its probably the worst service EVER.  do you think there will be a problem canceling my broadband only.  im thinking as it comes free, there wont be a problem as i dont have to have it, its just a bonus.

cheers   8-)

Since your broadband is free, you have 2 options that makes sense:

1) Unhook it and just get your other service.  No harm, no foul.
2) call them up and ask if you can stop your free broadband service only.

Any company that's giving something away free, just to get new customers or keep existing ones will gladly relinquish the free service, provided you keep the one you pay for.
What's free to you comes at a cost somewhere down the line..

Best to call them up and cancel it. That way, you can be sure they won't charge you somewhere down the line [if read most contracts, they will have a fine print that read "these terms and conditions are subject to change without notice"]. ;D

This applies to the UK.

If you want to cancel your broadband contract and change to another provider you need a MAC code from your current provider. Orange should give you this code within 5 days and you need to pass it on to your new provider.

The law has just changed ..... in the past your original provider could drag out the process by not handing over the required MAC code after thousands of complaints the internet providers were hit with the full force of the law.

i'll still ask for the code, just to be annoying   ;)
