Sorry but the statement: " who appeared uninjured, was lucky not to kill himself"  disqualifies the person.

An Honourable Mention, mayhaps, but definitely not a candidate for A Darwin Award nomination.

Why didn't he just get a rock or something? He would have been caught just the same.  :-?

There must be something even lying nearby he could have used if his theft was a spur of the moment one.

correct - Darwin award winners must either die during their act of stupidity, or become seriously maimed, permanently disabled or severely injured.

I didn't mean he should be nominated for doing what he did; I was actually meaning he is likely to be a future one if he carries on doing those sort of things.

hehehe a few days ago some idiots in my school nearly put themselves in the darwin awards.

Basically, they broke into the science department store cupboard and stole a load of highly toxic chemicals. They got it all over their hands, all over the desks, all over their clothes, other people, etc. In the end, 4 people had to be taken to hospital for serious burns.

It also just happened that there was a powercut halfway through this incident, which accidentally popped the fire alarms system and automatically called the fire brigade. So the fire engines clogged up the road and stopped the ambulances from getting out. Oh, and this is whilst everybody's in the corridors and courtyards walking to their next lesson, and so the lights go out.

Total. Chaos.

;D two people got expelled over the matter

And you people ask why Ozzy's a teacher? So do I...  ;)

Yep, all criminals because I see the word to be more subjective. ;) The government/society may class an individual as a criminal while I may not. ;)

If you mean "clever" professional criminals; well they are just smart idiots.  :P

Here's a few a co-worker gave to me:

* When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a holdup in Long Beach , California , would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

Not Darwin material but still good

* After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a
     Zimbabwean bus
driver found that the 20 mental patients he was
     supposed to be
transporting from Harareto Bulawayohad escaped. Not
wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to
a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a
free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the
mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients
were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies.
The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

* An American teenager was in the hospital recovering
from serious head wounds received from an oncoming
train. When asked how he received the injuries, the
lad told police that he was simply trying to see how
close he could get his head to a moving train before
     he was hit.

* When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a
     motor home
parked on a Seattle Stree t , he got much more than he
bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a
very sick man curled up next to a motor home near
spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man
admitted to trying to steal gasoline and plugged his
siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

"Dear Diary,
Today I finally got that new TV I've been wanting... but I can't enjoy watching it because of this sudden blinding headache...maybe after the pharmacy closes I'll go get some aspirin..."
