Where would you like/prefer to live in the U.S...?

Postby Fozzer » Tue Feb 27, 2007 7:28 am

Hello to our U.S. Chums....in particular.... ;)...!

Having spent the past 10 years touring around the United States in various Flight Simulators, and observing the various scenery, etc....

I have always had this fascination with California, on the West Coast, from San Francisco to Los Angeles...;)....

....particularly San Francisco and the Silicon Valley area... :)...!

If you already live in the U.S., where do you particularly like living at present, and for what reasons..?

...or...if you had the chance, where would you prefer to move to in the U.S., and for what reasons...?

Do you like living in the middle of the Nevada Desert...or would you prefer to live in a lush Alligator swamp in Florida...?

...or is New York much too "busy" for you, and you would much prefer to live in the peace and tranquility  of Wyoming...?

...and what about the daily violence, etc, (or not!), and what problems exist, in certain States/Cities/Areas...?

Paul....always interested in "Other Folks"....and their dreams/aspirations... ;)... 8-)....!

I used to live in Sun valley, Nevada, and Sahuarita Arizona. Right now i live in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

We moved to Nebraska, because most of our family was there

Now i wish we could live closer to the bigger towns, so we don't have to drive 40 miles to the nearest supermarket.

San Francisco's geography is stunning, but the cost of living there is ridiculous.

Hey, I live in Omaha.  I grew up and spent most of my life in Los Angeles.  Believe it or not, I prefer Omaha to Los Angeles, for a number of reasons.

If I wasn't tied down to the UK, I would have gone a few years ago to escape the current idiots in charge...

I can't disagree with that...

Have I never shown where Wendy and I live Paul ?.....

Ski on snow in the mountains half an hour away in the morning, swim in the cool ocean in the afternoon twenty mins from home, and fly R/C in the early evening right outside my backdoor,.......all in a summer day on Vancouver Island....... 8-)

It's not the U.S. ......but it's not bad either.......... ;)

ps: then there's the yearly April bonus - Snowbirds practice, two times a day for almost three weeks..... :-X

I'd like to live in the north eastern or north western part of the US. Or in Chicago.

Or simply put: Close to Canada. ;D

BTW, in response to the original question.  I've lived briefly in the Mohave Desert.  What's it like?  It's hot, and dry.  Going outside during the mid-day in the summer is like being in an oven.  It's just hot......and dry.

Anyplace along the Rockies(NM, CO, WY, MT). It seems attitudes improve with altitude.  ;D ;D  I really enjoyed my time in Albuquerque.

I live in New Hampshire and it's really rather wonderful.  Except for winter, which I'm not a huge fan of (more the foul weather and lack of sunlight than the cold).  Ideally I'd live here in summer and go somewhere else in winter.

My brother lives in San Diego, and it's beautiful there.  Perfect weather all year, lots to do, tons of jobs.  The perfect place to live except...

1)  Too many people live there
1a)  real estate is WAY too expensive
1b)  it's impossible to get away from all the darned people
1c)  there are no places to live, commutable to any jobs, that aren't overdeveloped.
1d)  did I mention there are too many people?

Of all the places I've visited in the US (All over the North East, New York City, Florida, North Carolina, Minisota, Michigan, Oaklahoma, California, Chicago, and others I can't think of right now) the only place that's tempted me away from New Hampshire has been Colorado.  I'd be interested in what it's like further south as well, (particularly New Mexico near the mountains).  The east slope of the Rockies is just the right mix of developed and undeveloped for my tastes, cost of real estate isn't too bad (I live in one of the most expensive areas of the country right now so Colorado, though expensive in areas, isn't bad to me) the mountains are beautiful, and it's sunny almost every single day.

So if I were gonna move it would probably be somewhere on or in the Rockies.

I'd live in the country just to the north of the US... Canada is awesome. Had some great times there as a kid. However I'd settle with NY as it isn't far from the border and I could raid Daves fridge ;D

I've been in all but two of the main regions of the US, I've not visited the South-West or the North-East. In my experience, they all have their pros and cons, however my favorite was the North-West. A few years ago some friends and I took a road trip to Seattle and I loved it up there. I'm not a fan of any big city, but Seattle was pretty nice. Also, I've always had a fascination with Alaska. I could see myself living there or in Washington state, mostly for the scenery. The other thing is that we took that trip in the winter time, The Rockies in the winter are just breath taking.

Paul: Have you ever visited our lovely country in the real world? If you stick to California, you won't have to hear any Texas accents. ;)
