Generic drugs by mail or on-line?

I found a website that offers to sell generic drugs, seemingly without a doctor's prescription. Is this possible? The pill I was taking was $4 a shot. The generics are 90 for $45. Quite a savings, but is it legit? Anybody ever ordered generics this way?

NEVER use anything that you can only get on prescription if it is not from a legitimate source ie a pharmacist. The generics you buy might be fine, however there is no way of verifying their authenticity and their legality. We all know the major drug companies keep their prices inflated but at least you know that, in most cases, the drugs you are getting have been properly tested and the results of those tests verified. Generics, especially those offered online, may have been produced in countries where the standards that we expect are not upheld and therefore their ingredients may be harmful.

By generic, do you mean over the counter or prescription?
Either way, NEVER buy stuff from these 'suppliers' It could be dangerous and is definitely illegal. If you have problems affording prescriptions, talk to your doctor about it and they might be able to suggest cheaper alternatives. DO NOT take the 'easy' way out and buy from these sites, they may have tampered with the drugs and its likely that what you get won't be the proper dosage.

If it is prescription and they are selling it without, you will probably end up with a bag of blue Smarties.
In the UK a couple of guys went down for selling Viagra, except it was not Viagra, but blue coloured peppermints ::)

As an experience pharmacy technician, and I'm CPhT certified, it's completely illegal to get prescription-only drugs without a prescription. There are many reasons why you need a prescription for these medications.
1. The strength of such medications require careful monitoring by a licensed physician.
2. The chemicals used to make the RX-only medications can be used to create illegal narcotics such as crystal meth. This explains why so many OTC medications, particularly some of the decongestants, were forced by the FDA to be put behind the counter.
3. RX-only medications are required to meet strict manufacturing standards or else they'll never get approved by the FDA. Some countries are unable to meet such high standards, so those countries tend to cut corners and would rather risk the safety of the patients just to earn quick cash.
Never by RX-only medications online that promise you that you don't need a RX from a doctor. If you need RX-only medications, get in a car and drive to your nearest pharmacy. You may have to pay more, but at least you can be sure the medication is safe.

Are there reputable, and reliable companies that sell over the counter drugs online? I'm having a hard time finding caffeine pills here, but if I could buy some online from a good source, that would be great

If you want caffiene pills, Essel, just buy a pack of NoDoz. They are about as potent as two cups of coffee. I can't take them; they give me Godzilla's heartburn. Truckers drink lots of Mountain Dew-- it has the highest caffiene content of any soda out there. Then there is always Jolt Cola for the really brave. They once sold Jolt X2, but I haven't seen it for a long time. Maybe it was explosive in large quantities...
Hit
www.qualitygenerics.com if you want to see what prompted me to ask the above question...

Just an FYI.. thats a SPAM web site. You are not buying from the website you are buying from a hidden suppiler who is most likely a criminal, dont do it. Assuming you ever see the product and assuming it is not fake more than likely your private information will be used for other purposes such as sold on a list for ID theift. If you ever see any product its probably counterfit or fake.
If you click on BUY NOW for a product, unless your browser is set for high security it will not ask you if you want to display the NON SECURE elements of the order page and it will not be secure. If you do manage to have security high enough and click NO, it will take you to the HTTPS secure order page but the certificate is a phoney plug and not secure. Also, at the bottom of the order page are the C-O-M-O-D-O SSL and SCAN ALERT icons which are FALSE and not connected to the security sites.
That is a very nasty web site I would suggest you stay away from it.
There are very good and legit online pharmacies however they DO require a script for such meds. You can get good meds much cheaper online but not without a legitimate perscription, and they will verify it.
This is one of many that are legit:
http://www.drugstore.com/ Its not the cheapest place though. There are much cheaper available such as
http://www.canadauspharmacy.com but with the new FDA laws, anything coming into the US from canada is now considered illegal.
here is a list of others:

Thanks for the info, mil. How do you know it's a spam website? How would anyone know? Thanks for the legit websites, too.

I, as well as many, many other people who read these pages, thank you ever so much, miltest. If these generic drug dealers are selling illegal crap and ripping people off, is there any way to get their site closed down? To whom would I report them?

Outside of US influence there is very little you can do. If you intend to purchase meds online, use the ones I posted above or if you find a different one, use the methods I outlined above to check them out. If they are not in the USA or in a territory controlled by US law, don't mess with them.
Is it possible to get really good and cheap generics, much cheaper than the USA sites? Yes, but remember, anything shipped to you from outside the USA is illegal trafficing no matter if the product is good or not or if the site is legal in the country it resides. Just be careful because your customer information may end up on a list if the overseas or overborder Canada site is ever busted which makes you an accessory. PO Boxes are better for such orders (although I dont condone it)
Its best to just play it strait in this day and age. 10 years ago it was not a big issue but today its being monitored.

it's all lies. first don't even think about getting a prescription unless you have the note from your doctor.
i say lies in the fact that name brand and generic drugs are made by the same company. its all marketing, and event he doctors play into it. they give you name brand because you can "trust" it. maybe generic toilet paper may not be up to par, but prescriptions are thoroughly tested and made from the same ingredients. its WHO makes them is what sets the price.
again, if your doctor didn't prescribe it, don't touch it.
