I guess this is typical of our day...

Yesterday my Mum opened the door to a frightened boy of about 11 years old. He asked if he could use the phone and she was a bit suspicous as we have had lots of trouble with yobs in the past. But she let him in and he broke down on the phone to his Gran.
To cut a long story short he and his friend had just be running for their lives from a bunch of thugs chasing them with knives.

To think we could have had a murder scene in our front garden. I can't think what an 11 year old could do to provoke such a sick bunch of would be murderers to act so. My Mum is quite upset about it to say the least.
Not sure how the poor guy managed to outrun them, but anyway the police are out looking for the gang.

It brings home just what I might see on the news. Chilling.

All these little chav kiddies are complete pussies, skinny dumb runts of society, and to take some words from Mr Jay-z ...

'You know the type loud as a motor bike
But wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight'

They carry around there little blades etc but never actually would use them, or even no how to. As you said, the only thing they seem to do is get in a group (at least 20 to 1 ratio) is chase terrified 11 year olds round the council estate.

Me and some friends were out in town last week and this 16 year old came up and tried to mug us, i don't even think he go through his 1st sentence...on of my mates just cracked him one. Hope he's still lying there...

It is a known fact that all chavs have no brains and must be exterminated.....or at least I think so, I'm sure you guys agree!

That poor young chap....I hope he's feeling a bit better now, having to travel on a school bus every day (filled to the brim with chavs) I know how annoying (and sometimes frightening) they can be....  :-/

The last time I had trouble on the bus was from some drunk gypsies. A group of my ex-students (all basketball players) grabbed them before I could even get out of my seat and said "If you mess with our favourite teacher we'll kill you!" they then threw them off at the next stop.
Sometimes being popular is sooooooooooooo cool 8)

Simmilar thing happend to my mate and his girlfriend on a bus. A guy threatend them with a knife for no reason. He is a frequent visitor round where we live. I've told him to point this guy out if he ever see's him and I plan to show him how actually use a knife. See how he likes a life with no fingers. (and i'm deadly serious) You dont threaten my friends.
I feel sorry for this kid, why these people seem to get enjoyment from it is impossible comprehend.

i love england but hate its current trend...
its pathetic, and what saitek has said is only to common all over the UK for that matter. when i use to get the bus to school it was full of chavs or idiots i feel is a much more fitting name because it actualy means something. I know some of you say that they wouldnt even know how to use a knife but then sometimes its only to true that they do, like damiloa tylor when he got murderd by a group of jobs for know reason, and then the recent killing in moss side of a innocent lad.
like currently on the news it has been said that chavs are now seeing an ASBO as a medal of honour.
for any one who doesnt know what an ASBO (anti social behavor order) is check here

i have had runnings with yobs, ive been out in town on a thursday or saturday night and been yelled at a few times but it never (thank god) never turned into anything more. but recently in ym village the yobs have taken to snapping of car airials, its mindless vandalism and in ones night they got 40 including mine which i know have to take to the garage to get replaced because i think i mite also need a new aerial wire which goes to the stereo, thanks to some TWATS midless vandalism its cost me!

i hate the culture and wish their was some wat we could stop it but its just going to have to run its course unfortunatly

john

It's all part of a growing trend that we crazy Americans call "fitting in" or "being a man". I'm starting to see more young folks around here trying to act all BIG, BAD and MANLY by bullying someone or threatening someone with a weapon. Sometimes, they even go as far as hurting someone. One of my instructors college told me bout this kid in high school who stabbed another one just because the other one didn't want to give him a pencil. :-/

But I'm starting to believe it's all about how they were raised by their parents. There are three kinds of parents in existence. There's permissive, authoritarian and authoritative.

Permissive:

A parent who is warm and nurturing but lacks control, expectations are low and lacks communication. This usually results in a child growing up to be out of control and demanding to point where they think that they're the center of the universe. These type of parents are usually [in my humble opinion] the result of a litigation nation where parents are now becoming more afraid to handle their kids because of the fear of being accused of child abuse.

Authoritarian:

A parent who lack nurturing and is not warm, has complete control, rules are strict as heck and the level of expectation is too dang high. This type of parent can sometimes be abusive as well. This usually results in kids growing up to authoritarians themselves and can also be abusive, if not dangerous to others. This also results in a child having low self-esteem because of the sense of inferiority imposed by this type of parent. And because this type of parent lack communication, the child will never learn about why the parent was so strict.

Authoritative:

This is NOT to be confused with "authoritarian". These are the type of parents that I like to be around with the most. They're warm and nurturing, but have set basic rules in the family which can easy to follow even for kids as young as 5 years. They also have control over they're kids, but not too much control. They also have a high level of expectation for they're kids, but the level is not too high and not too low. Also, the level of communication between the child and parent is really high. This type of parent also uses inductive discipline. Inductive discipline is when the parent EXPLAINS to the child why he/she punishing him or her and explains to the child on what to do next time to avoid the punishment. This results in a child who grows up to be like you and me. Have common sense, think before you act, etc.

It's very unfortunate that the amount of authoritative parents in today's society is rapidly dwindling and the number of authoritarian and permissive parents are increasing. As a result, we're getting a large influx of chavs and idiots who are now running amock in every country that is "supposedly" civilized.

It makes me wonder if today's politicians were raised mostly by authoritarian or permissive parents. ::)

Kat, you're absolutely right. Just by taking one look at yob's / chav's parents, it's easy to see why they're as unruly as they are......unfortunately, as flymo said:

...but its just going to have to run its course...
