Just after I woke up this morning, heard a noise in the kitchen and saw one of the old windows had blown in... just finished scabbing a piece of plywood on there.

Newark ATIS says 180 at 16 gusting to 27, and it's also pouring rain...
Pressure is 29.28...
Now I have to go out in this to take Peg to the vet... ugh.

The road I take to work is Rt. 78, which runs east-west. In the span of a quarter-mile, there were 5 car accidents. The first one was a garbage truck that I guess had hydroplaned and wound up facing the other direction, and the other four were just cars that were rubbernecking and found themselves in a bit of trouble. This had all happened no less than five minutes before I got on the highway. Good thing I took that extra 10 minutes to sleep in! :P

See that? Punctuality can kill you... ;D

Had an interesting trip over the Pulaski Skyway in the Tracker... it's not fun in heavy crosswinds.

That could well be due to an increase of wind speed due to funneling between buildings. Surprised it doesn't happen more often actually.

No, the problem with the kitchen windows here is that they face south, which was right into the wind that day. In that direction, our building is the tallest thing around, so those ancient windows take a beating. That one that just failed is the last of the originals in the kitchen: about 100 years old and hadn't been painted or reglazed in probably 50 years. Any year now the landlord will send somebody to replace it... ;d
