Not sure how to say this........
Posted: Thu Oct 05, 2006 1:08 amSo, you may think that this is about hardware, but seriously, you think about it.....I've been hanging around here for a while now and most of you know about me and Wendy........I fly.....she likes to kill ...San Andreas, Vice City, etc......so the upgrade just came to a head for her.....we both had Sempron 3100s.....she went out to get an Athlon and it became a 3200.....well enough, I let it go and continued on my merry way.....I was happy...........then one day I was passing through the comp shop and talked my way into an Athlon too....."get me what you can" I told Rick......the next day when I returned, he said he had found only one upgrade for my 754 board and it was a 3700 Athlon.....
Mistake ! I mentioned to Wendy what I was getting and she said "OK....I don't like my machine anyway, I'm sick of computers !".....until she saw the performance improvement on mine.........
Forward to the comp shop with Wendy talking about a 3700 Athlon also......none to be found so it became a deal with Rick for a new 939 board and processor which would be at least as good as my 3700. The new 939 board though became more than just board and processor 'cause it wouldn't take her AGP 6600GT so it needed a new PCI-e vid card.....sorry nothing in the 6600 line and the early 6800 or 7300 didn't come into the deal so ......gee what should I do ?.....Rick : " how about a 7900 Wendy ?" Wendy : " Is it any good and how much do I have to add in my trade for the 6600GT ?" " Rick :" We'll talk "
The deal went through but all this needed a new PSU since her DVD and "3 IDE HDD half a terra byte storage" area needed some of the vid card power....so where is this all going you may ask.......sounds like a good machine.......I'm still running my 6600GT and although I did get my Athlon 3700 its still a 754 system....I do reasonably OK with the Sim and frames are enough to keep me flying.......
