Beware - falling fruit

I've seen it all now. ::)

Safety fears over falling pears

A council has cordoned off pear trees in a public park over fears falling fruit could land on someone's head.

Two black pear trees in Cripplegate Park in Worcester have been sealed off with a safety barrier and tape and a sign warns people of falling fruit.

A city council spokesman said the precaution was cheaper than the potential legal cost if someone was hit on the head with a pear and sued.

The cordon will be removed when all the fruit has fallen to the ground.

Worcester is famed for its black pears and the fruit is part of the city coat of arms.

The trees in question were planted by Edward VIII when he was Prince of Wales.

I think Fozzer would be glad to see a pear hit his head as it would give him a bright idea on how to prepare that pear for a meal in the same way Newton got an idea for the laws of physics. ;D

To be honest, much of the blame must be laid on the people who are actually willing to seek legal action against petty incidents, similar to this.

The law has become far too soft, allowing anyone to gain undeserved compensation for anything. ::)

My geography is a bit twisted. I hadn't any idea where that was, :-[ but I saw Hereford in the link and assumed it would be there.
Actually I did read it. ;) I read it before I saw your thread and then I partly read it again, but unfortunately I don't know where Worcester is!

Worcester is in Worcestershire. Hereford is in Herefordshire and Gloucester is in Gloucestershire. All very simple really. :)
