Simviation Forums

With the recent outcropping of "newbies" i think we need a general post to help them accomedate to the unusual atmosphere of Sim-V. So i have included some simple tips to help you out.  ;D

1. Hang around for awile and learn how we talk, the personallity here is unlike any other.

2. For your first, lets say, 10-15 posts, keep it simple. Ask questions, general comments, ect. But dont try and give us info sutch as "Use this to.." "post here so..." usually we will know alot more about FS than you and your telling us info we have found as general knowledge, not how you want to start your stay in the nuthouse  ;D

3. As i said we probly know alot more about flying (unless your a pilot), Flightsim, Editing files for FS, and sometimes general computer knowledge. Use this new found tool and ask question, opinions on products, or even what planes we prefer to fly in FS. Its a great place to get usefull info and have a good time.

4. once you have been here a little while (maby 50-100 posts) we will now get to know you and your personality better and maby poke fun at things you say in a good way, congrads youve been accepted into the culture and your input about new products (stuff released in the past week or two) will be more readly accepted as valid  ;)  However if you find we keep refering to your posts and useless or air-headed, ask how you can improve.

5. Rember this is a VERY cultrually diverse forum with MANY diffrent points of view, so arguments can be started easy. That is why we usually restrict politics and religion. The one thing everyone here has in common is they all like FS. Rember use your new found forum home as a great utility and scource of info  ;D

oh yea!  ONLY post a topic in ONE section, unless your absolutely shure its relevant in both areas, and even then try to refrain from doing it.

In general, it's good to read through several forums, boards, etc. to get a "feel" for the place.

I agree that Simviation is a place like no other.

The cardinal rule of Simviation appears to be:

You have the privilege (not the 'right') to post, preferably in the forum appropriate to your question and.or comment.

Keep the language simple, so that the old fogeys who think they own this place can understand it.  A lot of us get impatient with unintelligible enthusiasm run rampant.

Do not presume stupidfity on our part, but do not assume that we all know everything about anything (well some of us appear all-seeing and all-knowing, but that's done with mirrors).

Be cautious of what you post.  If it's possible that your posting can be misinterpreted, it probably will be.

If you dish crap out, be prepared to receive it.  THen again, you may not receive the crap back, because one of the trigger happy mods will have cut you out.

Respect other people's beliefs - religious and political.  Respect them so much that you really shouldn't even talk about theirs or yours.  You are allowed, of course, to praise and worship the Great Me.

These forums are NOT "public".  You have no "right" to anything here.  You have privilieges as granted by the Great Administrator and as supervised by the Hosts of Moderators.  Think of this as a benign dictatorship, or a friends house.  You are a visitor, and it's a wild party.  Respect your friend's  house and you'll be fine.

Certain mods and admins reserve the right to:

• twist anything you post and use it against you or anyone else.
• Reply to a post of yours with an answer that was not to the question you asked.

so if i go about asking whats for dinner and you say the square root of 64 is 8, it's perfectly fine here. i thought it was the standard already

here's the easiest way to be well rounded here, be light hearted. places like here is where the point is made across the board, with a sense of humour to follow. always look to this place as a great wealth of info  and a good laugh all in the same thread

1. The term "marmalade" is an inside joke. You will often find people using this word in one fashion or another.

2. Everyone here is known for their particular personalities. For example, Souichiro is known for his large sales of straight jackets while Fozzer is known for his excellent cooking skills.

3. Please check your spelling and grammer unless you are the kind of people who knows very little english. If you do know english enough to write a book then there is no reason to +yp3 l!k3 +]-[!$. Believe me when I say "we have a lot of strict spell checkers around here". Well, not that many though, but they are strict.

4. Once you are member [especially if you have posted enough times] you will have officially earned our trust to award you with the following:

One, small, padded room with a view along with any choice of Soui's straight jackets and a free injection of marmal-aid from me everyday.

It's only okay if I, or any of the other godlike creatures lording over Simviation say so.

I browsed the forums and read posts for at least 6 months before I actually joined and posted, and I only joind because I had a few questions to ask.  Now look at me, just hit 4000 posts and Ive been a member for 2 and a half years

You don't need an injection today...... crashing a Curtis Jenny is stupid enough to qualify as an injection.  :P

As for the blue straight jackets ....they are reserved for Ozzy as blue seems to be the only colour that calms him down.
