I must admit to thinking along those lines.
When you watch the replay you can see him laughing as he's walking away from the italian player.
I am guessing he said, "lets give em something to really talk about" That or the guy had a feeling it was heading to penalties and got cold feet.

We also know that italian players are usually very fair-play

WHAT?!  They do as many dives as Cristiano Ronaldo!


But in the end, I think we can all agree that the Italian player should be honored to have a bruised sternum from an all-time great.

In the same time I have to admit it's very strange for yes, they were still smiling ten seconds bvefore it happened and Zidane didn't say anything to the other player before hitting him
