Spitfire over Newcastle u.k.

Couldn't belive my eyes or ears today was walking up westgate road in Newcastle today looking at the motorbikes when suddenly I hear a faint engine roar which was instantly recognisable, a lone spitfire comes cruising by 700ft high couldn't belive it and was also spotted at teeside airport where my friend works he said it made 3 low passes was this the real thing? and does anyone know where this may of came from I am still chuffed hours later  ;D

I don't know my U.K geography, but AeroExpo is going on in Wycombe, just guessing, probably way wrong.

I can't find any relevent airshows in the area, and yup Wycombe is the opposite end of England to Newcastle.
What colour was she?
There were several BBMF appearances around Yorkshire yesterday however...

One Spitfire at Durham Tees Valley Airport, and Spit, Hurri and Dak were due at RAF Leuchars too, so I imagine you saw the Spit on the way to join them.

cool cheers  couldnt see the markings very well but it made my day never seen a sipt before in flight :)

I've seen 2 Spits "in the wild" too some time ago! It's a very nice surprise, isn't it?  ;)

Yeah I recognised the engine sound from the model I downloaded from here lol how many are presently air worthy and who owns them?

Generally its about 50 at any one time, with about 60 capable of flight but stuck on the ground for various reasons.

There are about 20 or so airworthy in the UK, 5 with the BBMF...
