Very funny, the spinning at the end reminded me of 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'.

Shame they ruined the video by having the pilots steering using the yoke & not the pedals.

How did that ruin the video?  It's supposed to be a FUNNY commercial, not an ultra-realistic representation.  Had they steered using the rudders, it wouldnt've been nearly as good.

It is a funny video, agreed - but for me personally the 'steering with the yokes' looked stupid. Unfortunately this video will be seen by more people who know nothing about planes than people who know about planes - if they hadn't steered with the yokes then to the majority of viewers it would've looked stupid.

Exactly.  The point of the commercial.  To look stupid.  You sure thought it did.  So would most people.Mission accomplished!

And wait, how come you mentioned them steering with the yoke and not them dragging planes down taxiways and spinning the planes perfectly into parking spots with gates that docked on the right side?

edit: actually, TSC, speaking fo yokes, I just noticed that first shot of you in your sig-you have both hands on the yoke.  Did the CFI (or the Brit equivalent) tell you to do that?  Just interested.

As for me not liking the 'yoke steering' - thats just a personal preference, a different sense of humour - thats what makes us human, it doesn't mean that it's right or wrong.

Aye, my CFI was ok with it, but that piccy was taken on my trial flight. Thats how I managed to get a friend in the back to take the picture.

Ahh, ok.  I remembered those were pics from your trial flight but I was told on my trial flight to always, always, always have on hand on the yoke and one on the throttle.  I guess it's alright different ways too, but I'm assuming your instructor had his hand on the throttle? (*gulp* i hope!)

Well I'd never thought of it before, even looking at the picture - & in the picture my CFI's hand wasn't on the throttle, but I guess it wasn't far away. My last flight was in Feb (cash ), but I do remember having one hand on the throttle & one on the yoke for that one - different CFI that time though.

YIKES I guess he didn't!

TSC that's a little scary.  Short final and no-ahh nevermind.  Oh well, it was a long time ago and I'm sure you've learned a lot since then.  I've been on ice for six months myself, I'm finalyl going back up next weekend and I'll have my PPL in a couple weeks.  It's getting a little annoying.
