Camera Battery Question

Hey all you camera people, I've got a question - I thought I read somewhere that the mAh number on a battery relates to how long a battery lasts, is that true?

Thanks for your help, and mods, if this should be in the "Hardware" section, feel free to move it, I didn't know where to put it. ;)

...mmm.....depends on how much "juice" your particular camera needs to operate.........

......The life or capacity of a battery is shown as so many mAh (milli Amp hours). 1000 mAh means that the battery can supply 1000 milliAmps for one hour (or 500 mA for two hours, etc). The larger this number, the longer the battery life........so you should be able to work it out from that...

....how you use your camera will also affect the life of the battery..... for example........merely taking pics by looking through the ordinary viewfinder with no flash will give a much longer period of use than using the LCD finder and flash all the time..........constant viewing of your shots will also drag down the power supply...........

...........commoner ;)

I don't know what options there are for you but for me I got a really good rechargeabe battery pack with my kodak easyshare camera. I've easily taken close to a thousand pictures over the course of two days and still not had trouble with running low on juice....

Loads of sites about that...
best discharge curve: NiMH
Best cold-weather performance: Alkaline

Bah, that's no fun, that's what we have SimV for! ;D ;)

Thanks for the info though Ivan, I've got Li-ion batteries, because that's all that will work in my camera. ;D ;)
