weird story... revisited

Postby beaky » Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:36 pm

I mentioned my neighbor from my hometown in my post about violent teens and decided to google the name to see what the latest news was... morbid, I know; not entirely sure why I was curious, but this family was part of my childhood, and my feelings about Harry and the murders are still unsettled, I guess.
I discovered that there has been a book published about this tragedy, and a movie was apparently made. Not sure I want to actually buy it, but I'm very curious, as it appears Harry claimed, after initially confessing, that his younger brother did it. He is interviewed in the film (serving without parole on four counts of murder)- I'd really like to hear what he has to say .
Visiting the message board was very strange; it dredged up a lot of long-dormant memories of my childhood (I moved away from Montvale at age 11)-  some good, some bad.  Many different takes on the subject- some wise, some offhanded or cynical. I of course had to toss in my two cents... I think exploitive or not, a book or film about this horrific crime of passion should be disseminated, if for no other reason than to remind people that it can happen anywhere, and there are signs to be heeded.
Maybe there's no useful purpose to it; maybe it's just morbid fascination; maybe it's just Hollywood types trying to glom onto the lies of a monster or present an old story as a new twist on the current "trend" in sudden outbursts of violent teenage rage for their own benefit.  I'm still not really sure. All I know is that a childhood friend of mine was gunned down in his own home, by one of his own brothers, and I'll never forget it.  If you're curious:
