Ant Isues...

I need of any ideas that might take care of ants...for good :P

Since last year we have had a wave of these ants in the house.  They are just tiny ones but when you start killing a hundred or so a day it gets a little overwhelming :-X

Used to just have them in the kitchen but now it appears they've taken up refuge in our bathroom.  We have tried everything from boric acid (useless when wet...figures...they came to the wettest part of the house), electronic pest repellers, and even an exterminator last summer.  Still have them by the hundreds and the exterminator said we are not the only ones with this little problem, seems this entire area is fighting them :-/  Only have a couple in the kitchen now but of all places they could go they chose the bathroom :P

Nothing seems to work.  I even tried the trick of packing some of my chewing tobacco in a crack above our tub...cant say my mom liked that one to much...but there was around 200+ dead ones in the tub this morning ::) ...surprizingly this was the best solution so far :-[  But still, I just killed about 2 dozen while taking a shower.  Youd think after killing a couple thousand they would die out...guess not :P

So whos got some ideas ???  Tired of battling these little pests :-/

Have you tried the poison pellets?  They've always worked for us.  I haven't seen any ant mounds in years though.

Don't have any suggestions for you on how to get rid of them. If there's an ant hill, have you tried burning, blowing up, pouring boiling water, ect to it? :D

But I would advise against putting bug bombs in the refridgerator ;D

......Sorry, I couldn't help it ;)

If you are plagued with ants there is only one option I know of:
a) Take away the source (the nest)
b) If the house is badly run - fumigation.

Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs. That's a new one on me.  I must try it when I get my annual invasion. :D

Just be thankful they're not termites. :o

We used to get them invading our kitchen every year when ti was hot. SOmetimes there would hundreds of them.

The weird thing was they only ever came in when there was the flying ones on super hot days only. Then they really were quite interesting to watch.

EDIT: That was when I lived in south east England btw. ;)

We thought of fumigation last year...but we have found out there is some kind of town law that prohibits this...no clue as to why.  Sealing all the cracks is quite a job, as we are slowly remodeling parts of the house there is more cracks forming.  This house is over 60 years old and theres a lot of problems.  Poison pellets we will have to find.  Havent tried them but didnt know of them.  Problem with finding and destroying the nest is that it almost has to be in the walls.  We have  a basement and theres not a sign of them down there.  Been way to cold outside for them to survive...

For the time being still packing tobacco in the cracks they are near...seems to kill quite a few, but this tiny army never stops :-X

Just be thankful they're not termites. :o

Lucky for us termites are not a big problem around here ;)

Oh, you'd be quite surprised.

Unless, of course, you live in Siberia.  Then I'd sit down and shut up.  You don't live in Siberia do you? :-[ ;)

Dynamite. ;D

Never had a problem with ants, but I did have fleas in my car once. I left the window down one night and came out to find a stray cat asleep in the seat. He was kind enough to leave some of his fleas behind when he left. I sprayed myself down with 'Off' and bug bombed the car. It worked quite well.

They are there after something. Either shelter or food. Find and eliminate either one and they will be gone. We had problems with big black ones in our kitchen. I finally noticed they were going to the pop cans in the recycle bin. Started rinsing out the cans better and no more ants.
