Kirby Puckett Dies

Postby RichieB16 » Mon Mar 06, 2006 9:24 pm

For those baseball fans out there, I just saw online that the great Kirby Puckett has passed away.  He suffered a stroke yesterday and today he died at the age of 44.

Scary (I'm 44). I've heard he'd put on some weight, but it still makes you wonder... might've been some undetected condition; very sad.

They said on the news that almost all his relatives died at a young age from heart conditions and strokes. Its been all the news have talked about here in Minnesota for the last couple days. But very sad.

the worrying thing about being a sportsman, is although your in peak condition for most of your career, if you dont keep it up after you retire, it quickly does become fatty tissue. Mix that with a heart that has spent years working overtime.
Sad loss. :(

'Twas a stroke.

Very sad. :( I understand he was the second youngest man to be inducted into the hall of fame while still alive. Youngest was Lou Gerhig. *edit- I just realized that this was in the article :P*

My English teacher is a big Twins fan. He showed us an autographed rookie card of his, and he almost started to break down crying. It's weird when a sports star passes away. Even though we don't know them personally, it's almost like we do. Thus is life I suppose.
