At long last....

Postby ozzy72 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 4:25 am

An RAF veteran who lost his flying licence 30 years ago after failing a medical has won it back at the age of 73.
Ron Gray, from Hartlepool, uses spectacles and a hearing aid but has overcome the high glucose condition which stopped him flying. A former pilot of Vampire, Meteor, Hunter and Sabre jets, he has passed an 11-month course for flying light aircraft after retraining on Cessnas at Durham Tees Valley airport.
His licence restricts him to flying only on clear days but he has started an instrument ratings course so he can fly in poor visibility and take a flying holiday in the Highlands.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Shame he's not allowed to still fly Meteors and Hunters! ;D

I hope I'm able to fly at that age :)
