Getting a response

This is just an amble of the mind respond if you want or just read it and think about it. Moderators if it is in the wrong place please move it

Reading through some of the other posts in the picture forums one young man seemed to get particularly upset that he wasn't recieving replies to his posts (I assume its his screenshots not queries or general discussion as I have found most people more than willing to share their advise or experiance).

So how many of us post for response and and do we percieve no response as a negative?

Whenever I post shots...I don't care if I get a response or not...I just want people to enjoy...they leave a comment/criticism, I try to improve...if not, no problem...It's nice to get a response, but I'm not that fussed if I don't...

I think I know who you are talking about. Alas some people have a desperate need for attention, others lack patience... you can't change them and if they feel the need to have a tantrum I just let them get on with it as it is rather pathetic.
I mean asking for help okay maybe you get a little frustrated from time-to-time but having a wobbler 'cos no-one has answered your question in the space of a couple of hours doesn't mean we don't care it is just that nobody online has either seen the post or knows the answer.
Sometimes I do get a bit frustrated with this demanding type! Then I just go and delete any oversized or linked images so as to throw my nasty disposition into sharp relief

The only doctrine I have is to try to make every post relevant and useful.  I say try, because there are guilty pleasures like the What Song Are You Listening to Now thread?  For some reason I just like that thread.

I post to satisfy people, responses or not. Responses would be nice, but if there are no responses, c'est la vie, I suppose.

In my opinion, if i post a series of shots and only get a few reply's but a fair few views i'm happy, even if no one comments on them as long as people view them thats fine with me.

Don't know why but I've seen more people getting upset in the Screenies sections than any other part of this forum. That's the reason I usually steer well clear of it now although I sometimes have a peek & marvel at the wonderful shots posted by so many of our members.

Another thing puzzles me. How does a sneaky shot up a Scotsman's kilt attract more views & comments in a few days than the best efforts of our most talented photographers on the Photos forum?

I usually post either to let people know something I know, or responding to other's questions, or to express my opinion to something. In all these instances I am not expecting a response of course.

I sometimes ask questions. I cannot say I understand a no response as a negative reaction in that case. Maybe a bit disapponted only because I did not find the answer I wanted but that's natural.

I think that most people aren't inclined to reply something unless it's out of the ordinary, disgusting, or if they really like it. But with the 'normal' stuff, I think people usually reply to something when they have something to say, other wise they read and move on.

I can post some screenshots, and usually only about 2-3 percent of those that view them actually reply. I don't think it's that they don't like them, but for most, they're not too out of the ordinary to reply to. Does it really bother me? Not really.
