Woman Does 'Mouth-To-Beak' to Save Chicken

Feb 7, 11:21 PM (ET)

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (AP) - Sometimes a chicken does have lips, just not her own. Marian Morris saved her brother's exotic chicken, Boo Boo, by administering "mouth-to-beak" resuscitation on the fowl after it was found floating face down in the family's pond.

Morris, a retired nurse, said she hadn't had any practice with CPR in years, but that she was interested to see if she "still had it."

"I breathed into its beak, and its dad-gum eyes popped open," Morris said. "I breathed into its beak again, and its eyes popped open again. "I said, 'I think this chicken's alive now. Keep it warm.'"

Morris said she was pleased to find that the bird she saved was an "exotic," and not just an ordinary chicken.

The chicken is called Boo Boo, because she is easily frightened. The family thought Boo Boo was startled and flopped into the pond.

I picture a 230 lb. man doing the heimlich (sp) on a duck....

I think you can still be arrested in some states for this.

I think she should have got some ham and cheese and did a nice cordon bleu, and called it good. ;D

Keni ;)

PS If the chicken had died anyway could her brother sue for malpractice?

Hmm.....Moth-To-Beak....well, that chicken must have been loved :D

Talking of going far to save animals, I was watching a program about a horse with Salmonella (however it's spelt ;))
The vet, who was a devoted horse-lover, inserted a pipe down through it's throat into it's stomach, and was manually sucking (yes, using her mouth) the infected substance (or something like that) out of the horse, which I thought was a little disturbing, but devoted.

Makes you wonder if this vet has ever heard of a stomach pump before... ::)
