LOL!

I wonder if they'd get this one:

George: Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

So... lemme see if I have this right...the police, whose official mascot for the World Cup is a soccer ball that looks exactly like the late but not-exactly lamented Fuehrer, will be arresting anyone who attempts to display a comic representation of the same individual...
 Very well; as long as nobody even mentions Mohammed (sorry!) there's nothing to worry about...
::)

...check, please!

lol - They are quite strict there about it. Odd really - walking old Hitler gives you 3 years in Germany. You can stab someone here and get less quite easily.  ::)

You have to remember chaps that in Germany and Austria things related to the Nazis are illegal and have been for a long time. Germany in particular has had a very hard time (considering Hitler was Austrian!). The swastika is illegal (even on historical aircraft), denying the holocaust means looking at 3-5 years in Club Fed etc etc. I personally think the Germans and Austrians have done far more to stamp out racism and prejudice than most other European countries....
If you want to see a bunch of bastards that have never apologised for things they've done look no further than Britain, I mean we invented the concentration camp (Boer War), barbed wire (anyone who has worked with this stuff understands what I'm talking about), tanks to squash people, the machine gun to kill Afghans etc etc etc. We're not very nice people but winning means you don't have to apologise ::)
Mind you that won't stop me having a few beers if England by some miracle beat Germany! However if the French performance is anything like the last world cup I'll be drunk for a week ;D

I understand very well why they'd be touchy about this (I grew up on a street that was mostly German families; asking my friends what their fathers did "in the war" was a big no-no);  I was only pointing out the irony of...y'know, the police logo, and... the, um... that is... oh,  nevermind...:P

But really, as for chants and other provocations seen in the stands :  International  sport is, as far as a nation's spirit is concerned, sort of a stand-in for actual combat.... as long as nobody gets hurt, I think anything goes!  It's sort of a safety valve, or should be, anyway...  ;D

Now to be fair this is again England fans we are on about.
The inventors of soccer hooliganism. If you want a riot done right you goto these guys ;) ;D Having had the pleasure of being under the intense watch of French police for the world cup there, just for being British I can honestly say I am glad these guys are being stopped before leaving the country in many cases.

I personally do not support persecuting people for thought crimes.
