Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

And on another note, in my opinion the wolf is quite possibly the most beautiful and captivating animal on the planet.

I've actually befriended a few.. or, more like, they, me. They can be a social as well as an individualistic breed.

So, Rom, did the legend of your epithet contribute to your posting this one? 8)

There were at least two versions of Romulus and Remus; there was in the legends that they were raised by a she-wolf. Actually, this post would seem to have some bearing on the actions between the brothers. 8)

Nice one. And quite true.
For a moment there, I though this was the one that ends with :"But why do you ask, Peeing Dog?"
...cleaned up version...

Ah, good point, hadn't thought of it that way. Romulus also killed his brother Remus. But my brother is alive and well.

To make something clear
Lupus = wolf in general, male wolf
Lupa =  female wolf AND... prostitute.

The word used in the original text is derived from Lupa, not Lupus.

I have been close enough to them in the wild in the past to hear them howling at night. Thats the closest I would ever want to get:)
No plan on letting them chew my arms off ;D

I find their family qualities and their loyalty to their own, the most amazing. Apart from the meerkat I dont think there is another animal as loyal to their own pack.  Plus their hunting skills, its always fun to watch, my Border collie when he's out in the park running around, you can see alot of that sort of posturing in the way he chases things around. Leading me to believe Border Collies and Wolves are related very closely.
