Ever wonder if you're supposed to feel a little silly playing with computers "at your age"? I have, from time to time, but no more, thanks to this lady:

well I would feel silly if I was playing games like super mario & co, but flying isnt a game! Of course you can handle it like one (doing nothing but stunts etc), but in fact its a really hugely complex simulation!
But I feel sorry for that woman in a way...Video Games let you become stupid, Flight Simulator improves your intelligence! ;)

You may, or may not, be surprised that many of us old-timers have been enthusiastic computer gamers for longer than many of you youngsters have been born... ;)...

As a 71/72 year-old, I have been programming computers and blasting the Aliens since the 1970's...
...and still enjoying every minute...

There are quite a few of us on this Forum...trust me...

I don't think it's an age thing, more a state of mind. Playfull adults with some imagination still can enjoy becomming a virtual hero! The only thing that bothers me is the lack of origniality of games designers. I can safely say I haven't bought a game since 2 years, not play them alone anymore. I still enjoy simulators. Somehow my expectations outgrew the infantile shooting/jumping/reaction-actio games. Gimme something new! Games like GTA still appeal to me, cause they offer such great liberty. You decide what you'll do. I'm tired of games that follow a script...
Anyhow... play as long as you enjoy it! ;)

To say that a person is too old for games or simulators is to say that after the age of 18 a person is to no longer like candy, ice cream, or other stereotypical "Child" stuff.
The day I can walk past a candy bowl with a sneaking a piece or two will be the day that I am wearing a toetag, and the same goes for simulators and game!

Think nothing of it. You're never too old to Rock and Roll.

I quite agree - no-one is too old - but I quite object to 10 hours a day!

What a waste of time - and she is a grandmother with responsibilities.

I guess I really have stuck my foot in it now!

I love games, but the gaming industry as a whole needs to mature. I always compare it to the film industry. You can find films about romance, drama, comedy along with all the action and war, but games are exclusively about killing. The just seems to be no creativity in games. Take FEAR for example. At first I thought it was genious, but after showing it to several people, I became aware all the developers did was take "The Ring" and added violence. Way to go on groundbreaking. On top of all this innovation, it seems like half of the games that come out nowadays pit you against evil Nazis. How about the PTO, or here's a dangerous concept, something from the Axis point of view? I'm not too sure I'll be buying many more games. Unless dinosaurs are involved. For some reason I just really love the idea of shooting Dinosaurs.

Until a good dino game comes out, I'll stick with C&C Generals and Need for Speed. Crashing into cop cars is just so much fun! And no one gets hurt!

There are a few good, well designed non-violent games out there. The Myst series for one, the sims and the other sim games (sim city, ect.), and of course, flight simulator.
And no, you're never to old. My dad wasn't even interested in video games until I got him into Age of Empires. Now he plays all the time.
Also, video games don't make you dumb unless that is literally all you do. like the lady in the artical who plays for 10 hours a day.
