You can't blame a single politician. They just sign the legislation. It's their advisers & similar things are happening in many different countries. They might have good intentions but I don't like the way these people think.

But when that one politician gives the ok for something (war-time or not) thats completely unconstitutional, gets discovered, and then tries to play it off as "its nessesary".... :-X

Notice the loop hole. You can still annoy as long as you reveal your identity. ;D

Everyone is always so quick to worry about their rights under the constitution. The new legislation has nothing to do with 'big brother'. It's designed to give law enforcement tools to fight commercial spam and cyberstalking. Do you really think Uncle Sam gives a crap about someone calling you an a$$hole in a blog? Do a little research before worrying needlessly.

This explains the whole thing:
http://writ.news.findlaw.com/ramasastry/20031203.html

As the article states though, there could be a question on how the free speech amendment applies. As I see it the only people who be bothered by this law are the people most would WANT to be protected against.

Unfortunately as she states in the article commercial spammers who operate over seas and the ones who will move offshore to circumvent the law will make it dificult to enforce.

I don't see how that could be done without some sort of global legislation. Knowing how difficult it is to get two governments to agree on anything I think that would be impossible.

I totally agree, Doug.. I think for the most part it's well intentioned, but of very little actual value. As you say, getting two countries on the same page is nearly impossible. All bark and no bite. ::)

What i was refering to as unconstitutional had to do with another little isue....the domestic spy deal :P

This little law wouldnt really be to bad IF it was accualy possible to pull off ;)  Spammers will always be a problem till the internet dies ::)
