Warning about MVC gift vouchers - UK

Postby Hagar » Fri Dec 23, 2005 5:09 pm

I had a bit of luck today as I was going to get my brother a gift voucher from MVC records. The chap behind the counter told me the company is under the receiver so they stopped selling them. The staff only found out yesterday so this is a nice Christmas present for them - Not. ::)

He also told me that they're dreading having to explain to people trying to use gift vouchers received as presents that they will have to apply for a rebate from the receiver. This could take several months.

I think you'll find that MVC gift vouchers are also redeemable in Woolworths, Argos and several other major high street stores so there shouldn't be a problem.

Must admit that's what I thought but this was mentioned on a BBC Radio 2 news bulletin this evening. They were saying the same thing about those vouchers as the shop assistant told me. That's what reminded me about it & the reason I posted it here. If it's correct there's going to be some very disappointed people around after Christmas. I can't find anything on the BBC News website about it, or the MVC website come to that. Seems odd to me. ::)
