Standards...

...on TV. >:(

Is it me or have the BBC stopped "bleeping" before 2100. Watching "Dragon's Den" on BBC2, and one of the "Dragons" comes out with an offending word (beginning with "s", ending in "hit") completely uncensored.

I'm not the cleanest with language on some occasions (although I never swear in public), but is this an indication of the drop in broadcasting standards? They can produce "reality TV", and have every "politically correct" drama they can, but can't manage something simple like that... ::)

It would seem that mild bleeps such as what you mentioned are not considered taboo enough to be censored untill the after the watershed anymore. Though I must admit to being very suprised with what's being allowed these days.

I mean:

2 MTV hosts smoking weed........

The newest hit....Spuiten en Slikken which translates into spit or swallow about sex and drugs and stuff.... They let a guy have his first joint yesterday and watched him screw up afterwards.....and they had a report about outdoor sex......This is on a government funded network ;) ;D

Frans Bauer

Swearing is allowed on Dutch tv

A fine example was after the US GP "race" when the minardi boss (Ron Dennis??) was told that he could swear on Dutch tv.....needless to say he did....

+ a lot more brilliantly stupid stuff which most certainly would not be tolerated in most other countries....

Standards have been slipping for some time now. This is one of the reasons I rarely watch TV unless it's for something special.

No THERE is something that should be banned by law!

BTW... I watch BBC more and more as it is quite refreshing regardig standards and level, in comparisson to mighty intelligent programs as big brother, temptation island and other mind-killing drab... not to speak about the language used in those shows...

Standards have slipped miles... most of the TV is rot. ::)
I barely have much time for anything now anyway. I don't even have time for my favourite programmes.

big brother, don't get me started on it. i get this knack to watch the even seasons 2, 4, & 6 and all was a waste of time. the fact that i watch Amazing Race family is only because 2/4 families in the race currently are from park ridge and des plaines, both neighboring cities to me. now the apprentice was good, but now it's lost focus, it's become all the b!tching and back-talk about others. i never watch those "worst idea" shows like desparate housewives, temptation island, survivor, who wants to marry my dad, etc...

i wish this "reality tv" craze would end, because it should've ended at least 2 years ago.

We have Talpa... enough reason to turn the tv off.

Or what whould YOU do with a channel that decides to recycle anything the other commercial channels have done at least one year ago.

Every big name has gone to them for the money... but they didn't add anything to the quality
