Shame on You for Letting Me Live!

So says this woman.  21st century ludicrosity at its best.  Or better phrased, worst.

This is a very controversial subject & people have very different opinions on it. This puts the medical profession in an impossible position. From past experience I'm not sure it's a suitable topic for this forum.

Then lock it straight away...

OK ontopic now: was the mother vaccinated or not (or did she refuse because of religuous objections)

All I'll say is that people really will sue for anything these days. ::)

Fortunately that is not my decision. I cannot lock topics & most people might well be thankful for that. :P ;)

How's about opening the floodgates for every Disabled person to sue the medical profession? Because that's what it amounts to.

If this sort of case wins then I'll be persuading my wife do try the same here in the UK ..... she actually has a letter from a geneticist saying that the same thing that happened to my Step Daughter would never happen again ....... Guess what? It did ...... the result two kids that will need a lifetime of care and will never be able to fend for themselves.

Too controversial for MacBlunder Ben, but I have never heard anything so silly. If she wants to die - she can kill herself - if she doesn't stop complaining and keep on living!
To me it sounds like a bizzare way of trying to get rich.
I support the doctors case. Poor guy.

Just a little off topic, how do you communicate if you're blind and deaf?

They have a right, I think, to sue over the misdiagnosis- no reason why it can't be handled as an ordinary malpractice suit.
But of course it will have to be politicized, for the benefit of  lobbyists, lawyers and the media.... ::)

I see your point, but how well was the medical profession able to diagnose these things back in 1980???

This is staggeringly ridiculous.  If she wins I am going to sue my mothers doctor for not suggesting that due to my parents combined genetics I was likely to be over 6 feet four inches tall thus needing a lifetime supply of very big beds.  It must take some parent to inform their child that had they known the consequences of an illness they would have aborted her.

"Hey honey, good day at work?  By the way had I known you would be born blind and deaf I would have had an abortion and our lifetime of good memories would never have happened!  I just needed you to know how much you mean to me as a person....."

This is just stupid.

Don't these people realize that the human body is still full of a mysteries and even our best and brightest doctors have barely scratched the surface?

They can't blame a doctor for not being able to solve a mystery that would have taken even our best teams of researchers years to find out.

Have you ever heard of Muscular Dystrophy? It's a disease that causes muscles to harden. There is no cure, treatment, not even a cause of the disease [even with today's medical technology]. Can a man sue a doctor for being unable to prevent it, if you don't even know how it's caused? He can, but he won't win.

What I'm saying is this:

That woman can sue for all I care, but the suit will never undo her illness and it's never gonna help improve medical science.

I cried because I had no shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet. Be happy with what you have.
