It's a pretty long read. So, if you're not a bookworm, try to take a break every once in a while.

If I'm reading it correctly the world's going to end on December 21st, 2012 A.D. Nothing too serious & I wouldn't worry about it. ::) :D

You didn't even read it, did you? ;D ;D

I did, well, sort of. I got lost after the second paragraph because of all the modern-day scientific words that sound like gibberish.

If I understood part of it right:

1. Baktun = Century
2. Katun = Decade
3. Tun = Year
4. Uinal = Month
5. Kin = obviously a day

Did I get that right?

Let me see..... argh..... *head explodes*

*Kaboooooooom*

Quite honestly no. :P

I couldn't figure out what they were gabbling on about & sort of lost interest after the first sentence. If you can't understand it either why did you post it? ;D

Aztec end of the world. They're all dead now. Have been for a while. I don't think we need worry. ;D

Shoot, couldn't they wait to destroy the world until after Christmas. :( ;D

Just kidding, I didn't read it, but I've heard of it before and I really don't know what to think of it.

Just before baby Jesus was found by the three wise men. ;)

But according to history itself, no one is sure if he was born on that exact date. Centuries ago, even the most brilliant minds were struggling to figure out when he was born. The only reference they had were based on astronomy [Jupiter was in a certain position with Earth during that time]. So they took a guess [and an well educated one as well]. The 25th of December.

In that case, the brilliant minds might have been several days OFF for the past god-knows how many centuries. If that's true, then we are probably celebrating his birthday FOUR DAYS LATE! ;D Or [for those who celebrate for santa instead] we were opening our presents four days late. ;D However, I doubt any of our parents would accept that kind of excuse for opening our presents four days early. ::)

But all that doesn't matter. We're screwed anyways on the 21st of December 2012. ;D

Is this like how the world was going to end in 2000? and then when it didn't all of the doomsday people were like "oh, our mistake. It's actually going to end on the new millenium... next year". Now heres an interesting discussion: I had no doubt in my mnd that the world would not end and everything would just keep going as usual, but I still flinched when the clock rolled over that night. Then I immediatly wondered why. ::) Did that happen to anyone else?

I remember NASA saying something about a big asteroid and the year 2012.  Although of course they said not to worry.  Tho' I have seen 2012 thrown around quite a bit.

Fortunately I don't worry about things I have no control over.  Maybe there'll be a big fireball!

The Mayans are not the Aztecs (Aztec civilization peaked a fair amount later and the Mayans were still seperately, and the descendants of both are yet, extant).
Just before baby Jesus was found by the three wise men. ;)
The actual account states that the Magi arrived later, finding Him in a house. They weren't at the manger scene (that was the shepherds).

The 'canonized' biblical account doesn't really state where/when He was born but, rather, that He was put in the manger. Easter/Passover was taken into account, assuming an (inverted) 9-month period of perfection and the "coincidental" pagan celebration of Saturnalia.
This is just some historical information on some history; see it as you will but be careful where/how you take it.

Are you so sure we're still living, Tacit, and not a pigment of our own (or other) imagination?
Ever watch the old reuruns late at night? The sergeant in a "Rin Tin Tin" episode (paraphrased), "..the Indians had us surrounded but we held them off until we ran out of bullets."
"Then what happened?"
"They killed us!"
"What do you mean, 'They killed you,' you're still living, aren't you?"
"You call this living?"
