Yup this is REALLY bad...

I wondered who'd be the first to bring up this topic..

I don't really think the authorities can do much...hard strike backs won't work I think. And will only lead to greater violence. Violence of this magnitude is unheard of here in wester europe (at least I think) I wonder how it will be stopped

Having to be careful what I say, but they should remember why they moved to France in the first place. Also they should remember they are essentially guests of the country. Visas and immigrant status can be removed.

Methinks the police should arrest all the Renault and Peugeot salesmen on suspicion of promoting arson to improve sales figures and commission ;) ;D

They are trying to get influential people in the french Muslim society to call for peace and quietness. So far that hasn't worked...

Yup it is spreading towards other cities/countries as well.... :(

It's difficult to discuss this properly without getting political. Of course I've read about it in the papers & heard it on radio news but nobody seems to be willing to discuss it or explain exactly what it's all about. If it's what I suspect then I think this has been simmering for a very long time & if not dealt with sensibly could indeed spread to the whole of Europe.

Well tensions are already high round here. If it does spread to this side if the channel, I am heading to the military surplus store buying a flak jacket a few guns and a crossbow that i saw on saturday. Welcome to try burning my car then ;D
Seriously though, this is what you get for sticking your head in the sand ::)

Aye but since when has anyone in power listened to someone with their head screwed on the right way Doug?
I've got a great new theory about this, it is the insurance companies way of making people upgrade from Third Party policies to Third Party, Fire and Theft thus making them more money ;D

This can be a serious problem for all of Europe.

This may sound redicilous, but is it possible that the rioters might try to take over any of the military bases in France?

Just asking. Like I said, it's a redicilous question.

Taking over any military base is dead simple, just open a free for servicemen bar just outside the gates and the place would be empty in seconds ;D

I very much doubt that. Not knowing much about it I suspect that the majority of these rioters are bored young hooligans taking advantage of the situation. Organised vandalism with a "cause" & on a large scale.
