Missed stories from over the weekend

I've been real busy the pass two weeks to post but there were two stories that happened this past weekend that I'm surprised nobody commented in on.
First of all, sometime last week China managed to put not one but two men into orbit around the Earth. I don't know if either of them had been in space before but both men returned to the ground safely.
Second, a new actor has been chosen to play the role of James Bond. I can't remember who he is, but he's a relative unknown, at least outside of England.

I have little interest in space travel but I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned before. It's quite an achievement. Well done China - I think.

It was just two years ago that China put its first man into space, now on their second launch, China has circled the Earth with two men for five days. That's a big accomplishment for a nation that has just started with space flight! I wonder how soon it will be before China is docking at the International Space Station? I'm sure that China is getting some assistance for Russia but I'm not sure in what form.

Same here. Quite annoying.
I don't care if he has blond hair! What, will he be jabbering on his cell phone talking about skirts while shooting Ruskies?

I was thinking more of their reasons for doing it. I haven't seen it mentioned much in the newspapers & it soon faded from the radio news headlines. I haven't watched TV so wouldn't know about that but did hear it mentioned that the next step is a manned moon landing. If any other nation had done something like this I'm sure it would be all over the news. These things are expensive & China is rapidly coming into the 21st Century. I also wonder what the other nations think about it. I tend to wonder a lot about these things.

Well, I couldn't care less about James Bond. LOL What about China's fantastic achievement. Am I the only one to think that this is important & possibly a tad worrying?

Isn't the James Bond series made by a British company?

I didn't hear about event until the two men had landed and then only as a single paragraph in a side columb on the backside of the front page! Your right Hagar, if it had been any other nation it would have been front page news. Then again, perhaps China was keeping the launch quite until they returned to Earth successfully.

You're not. I just don't want to get blamed for starting a political argument

I'm with Hagar on this. I say 'Well done China'.
The Chinese have just started planning their lunar mission for 2007 and the US have been planning theirs for longer and I think a new space race is soon to be upon us. In 3 years China have gone from nothing (in space exploration terms) to a contender for the title of 'first nation to land on the moon in the 21st century'.

The tv stations around here wouldn't leave this alone for a couple days
As much as hate to say this, I've forgotten the actors name! Who is he and what has he done in the past?
