As i put in another thread, i swear this series is scripted. 3 games going down to the wire. 1 maybe two i could understand but 3? me thinks either they are being told to play to audiences or it really is a huge bonus.

Or Geoffrey Boycott tells everyone that he'd have done it better...

From what I hear the next test may be the last time we see Richie Benaud on our screens over here...

They'll never find one to match Johnners. http://www.johnners.com/

I always had a lot of respect for Richie Benaud. Sorry to see him go.

dont get me wrong i think he's done a great job, but part of the reason the game no longer appeals to the younger viewers, is because they have a bunch of 100 year old fossils moaning on about how they could do better than the young guys out on the pitch.

Like many others I always watched the cricket with the TV sound turned down. The radio commentary was far better. Check out the sound clips on this page. The one at the bottom is a classic. I defy you not to laugh out loud. ;D

LOL I didn't realise that Scania already posted a link to that clip. Still it's worth listening to again. ;D

As for those boring old TV commentators, I think this says it all. ::)
Brian was a cricket commentator on television from 1946 and became the BBC's first cricket correspondent in 1963. After he was dropped by television for being too humorous, Brian transferred to radio in 1970, where he became a national institution on Test Match Special.

Remember Doug, cricket is the rich mans game. Its all about being serious and the pressed shirts and suits. I'm still surprised they allow players to have a bit of mud on their trousers. Dispicable ::)

I don't mind the tradition. That's all part of the game. The class distinction side of it is not so common in the north of England although not so long ago the Players were not allowed to mix with the Gentlemen.

Johnners was one of those old fogies who never grew up. Even at the age of 80 he was an overgrown schoolboy. There's not enough of his type around.
