The shortest round in the history of golf ended at the weekend when a charity player's opening shot scored a hole in one - at the 18th and final green.
Peter Barron skewed the ball so badly it flew 150 metres in a huge loop, over several trees and spectators and into the hole where it - and other players' balls - had not been expected for at least an hour.
Mr Barron, 43, the editor of the Northern Echo, was given a round of applause at the Blackwell Grange golf club in Darlington. He said: "I am so bad at golf that I will never get a real hole in one so I will settle for this happily."

The only time I ever attempted golf was when I was in high school back in the 60's during my gym class. I sliced it so incredibly bad to the left as to be beyond most humans abilities to to so, but not mine.... ;D

It hit the roof of a small building and bounced back in the direction of the green. My coach hollered, "If that goes hole in one, your dead meat!" Well, it just did roll up to the edge of the green. My coach looked at me and said, "That's close enough for a severe beating." ;D

To top it all off, the guys standing behind me had hit the dirt......lmao

;D
