Birdman time again

Contestants in the International Bognor Birdman competition went wing-to-wing yesterday in a bid to fly into the record books. The competition to fly the furthest distance possible in a home-made aircraft began in 1971. Over the years, entrants have dressed as aliens, the Red Baron and Wonder Woman. Can you tell us a little more about this event.

When I think of home made aircraft I think of homebuilts, kits, ultra lights etc.

I take it this is not what they use?

Are they tar and feathering themselves and jumping off roof tops ;DLOL

I think I would really like to see some pictures of these guys.

You're not far off the mark there Doug, people build their own flying contraptions and give them a go.
Red Bull pinched the idea and now have a world series of this sort of thing. Basically as long as it is your own design and construction you can have a go. I'm sure there has been at least one person in a chicken suit giving it a whirl ;D

But the design is all Supermarines own work, I wouldn't trust myself with something that complex, I know what a dunce I am ;D
