Interesting

This should probably be in a different forum (Hardware) but I thought that I'd chuck it in here.

Since moving to Kent I've had a BT Yahoo Broadband connection.  The connection has been lousy and my download/file transfer speed terrible.  I have been lucky to acheive 10 KB/Sec and the norm was between 4 and 6.

Two days ago my telephone died, it was a little portable jobby that you could wander around the house with.  I binned it and plugged in my old phone and suddenly my connection is fantastic.  It turns out that the type of phone you have affects your connection.

I never knew that.  I just downloaded a few aircraft and for both files I got 30KB/sec.

I am a very happy chappy once more ;D

Will,

I know that for my TDStelecom DSL connection here in the states.... that typically runs about 170-190K/sec download (sorry  ;) )....... I have to have special filters located on EVERY phone that is on the same line as the DSL modem.

Thanks John.

I ran the test and I get 728 Down and 240 Up.

Is there any way of tweaking this my end?

So having firmly established that my connection is Pants, what can I do to improve it?

Any ideas?
