It is not just KIDS

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Thu Jul 14, 2005 1:17 pm

It is not just KIDS that say the Damdest things ;DLOL

We just got back from shopping as we have had thunderstorms most of the night and morning and could not get anything done outside.

Well when on the way home the old girl asked if I wanted a cold draft beer ;D (I got her trained well) of course I said yes.

We pulled into the Royal Canadian Legion and both of us are close to our 40 year pins and still Active Members.
Now in our little corner of this planet the Royal Canadian Legion is the only Licenced Establishment within 40 miles and it actually closes at 17:00 hours until 19:00 hours so the farmers will go home and milk their cows ;DLOL.

Is it true that the older we get the more we worry about things we have no control over?

Perhaps it is the amount of education a person has that reflects the amount of concern they show about something they have no control over.

Do you think the top ten richest people in the world would even consider worrying about this killer asteroid if it was going to hit 30 days from now.  I wonder?

I do not think they would because the scientist say as of today they can't do a dam thing about it.  Money for research from what I gather is no problem, the scientists are stumped, they do not have an answer yet.

So why do folks worry about minor things like this, there are certain things we can't control and two are:
(1) death
(2) taxes
Hell if I thought a killer asteroid was going to land on my little heaven on earth I would just put out a picture of the old mother-in law.  That woman could sink a ship just looking at it. ;DLOL

I know I'm a tad weird (well everyone thinks I am so I might as well admit it ;)) but the older I get the less I worry. I never gave much credence to these scare stories anyway. They seem to troll out this old chestnut about killer asteroids every time there's not much in the way of real disasters going on.

I suspect the "experts" who forecast these things actually have about as much idea of what they're talking about as my new granddaughter who is just over 1 week old. ::) I'll bet they get a whopping great grant to buy new equipment & give them a decent living until it eventually runs out. Then they have to come up with another outrageous theory to top up the old coffers for a while longer - & so it goes on, ad infinitum. The point is that nobody can disprove what they say any more than they can prove it. Even if they're right there's nothing I can do about it so what's the point of worrying? ::) ;)

That's my philosophy anyway. 8) :D

Right on Doug ;)

The last thing I like to do is worry...there is to many other fine things in life to do besides worry.

I do hope I get over to that airshow you just posted with the Austers and the Tiger Moths...not worrying mind you just hope I get there next year to see them, touch them and smell them.
Nothing smells better than an old deHavilland ;)LOL

Let me know when you're coming Doug & I'll be happy to take you or at least give you detailed directions. It's not that easy to find. They have these fly-ins every month during the summer. I'm told an ordinary Sunday is almost as interesting. Lots of vintage aircraft based there & visitors are always popping in. http://www.popham-airfield.co.uk/

PS. Don't panic Mr. Mainwaring........! ;D

I notice that since I've had kids, I worry about stuff a LOT more.  It's scary thinking that in 10 years, we may be at war with China or that theirs will be the first generation to see a nuclear weapon used since WWII.  I even have trouble watching disaster movies because I can't help but think about all of the children that must be dying when the asteroid (or whatever) hits.

Hell, I think I'll go have a beer myself...  ::)

Kev,

Yeah... it does that to you  :).  Puts a whole different perspective on things.....and makes the future seem a lot more important and a lot closer.

I've got one 24 and married and one 18 and headed off to college.   I still worry.....just about different stuff  ;).

best,
