Just Saw The Lowest 727 I've Ever Seen!

Hi Guys

Thought I would just tell you what I saw. I had walked back from school and was just putting my key in the front door, when I herd the sound of a jet engine throtelling up. So I look up and around a bit, and I  see a 727 not much higher than 1500ft with it's landing gear and flaps down! I have no idea what it was doing here, I live quite far away from luton airport, but if I walk up a hill near me I can see the runway lights, and heathrow, well I can see the planes landing there from my window, but only with a spotting scope. So I don't know what that 727 was doing so low here!?

He was a long way from the runway and not even on the right heading. He was aslo a bit low as he would have climbed as soon as he could right?
Also the weather is great not a cloud in the sky and virtully no wind, not the most likely weather to have to make a go around in

Wake turbulance? that can cause a go around, but unually ATC spaces landing aircraft appropriatly so that won't happen.

Well if you can see the airport from a nearby hill then you can't be THAT far away...it was probably a go-around.

It probably lost lots of altitude from just pilot error, went missed approach and turned towards you?
seams a reasonable answer to me.
