I think they canceled those shows since they were not for the "teenage crowd".  They are trying to touch more onrelationships and what not.

I never really enjoyed any of the tv programs mentioned in this thread.. ;)

As far as smallville is concerned, number one it was always on during school nights when I had classes, and secondly they continue on each week.

When I'm busy studying, I can't be bothered to try and catch an episode every week. I tend to prefer the sitcoms that can be watched and understood from week to week without much difficulty if a week gets missed here and there :)

Thankfully, we only get 4, sometimes 5 networks where I live. Fortunatly, that network isn't one of them 8)

I don't watch much tv, so I already have a hard time keeping up with 4 channels as it is ;D

I like Smallville. Good concept in showing the viewpoint of Clark growing up through the teenage years and discovering the powers he has. I don't know why it took years for a idea like this to come out.

I also loved Enterprise and I believe it was cancelled for the same reason Married with Children was cancelled. Although they will not come out a directly and say it. Fox at that time by looking at the new programs it was showing was moving towards a "certain crowd" and the now UPN is moving towards that "crowd"

Networks all over are moving away from one hour episodic, scripted television in favor of significantly less expensive to produce half hour reality shows.....sad really.
