I thought we wanted the population to go down??  ::)  If over population is such a big problem, why bring dead people back to life?  I love science, but sometimes...  Jeez!  :-/

Read the article? The planned applications are for medical emergencies, etc. Could also prove useful for spaceflight. Not sure I'm crazy about them doing this stuff to dogs (think it's a harmless, painless procedure? Tell you what- I sure as hell wouldn't volunteer...), but worse things have been done to dogs in the name of science, I guess.

And what's with the picture of the snarling wolf (not a dog, but a wolf)...?  :P

Its perfect for long space flights. Go to sleep here on earth, and wake up in orbit around Mars. It would certainly be better than trying occupy yourself for the 3 month trip.

Yes I did read the article.  And I think when I person dies, thats that.  But you know some rich @%^$ would want to use this to bring back old Uncle Ray.  Even though they can't...  :P

Oh, no doubt. There are already dimwits who think that a clone of a dead pet or loved one will somehow be that same entity reborn...  no doubt people will look to procedures like this for immortality.
But my point was that these particular researchers have more immediate practical uses in mind, to help reduce the risk of death in medical procedures that already exist; things like that.
Of course the media thinks: "Zombie dogs!!" and puts up a picture of a snarling wolf. Oh well, I guess they know their business...::)
And it's definitely worth looking into for prolonged spaceflight- not only would a trip to Mars be a lot less boring, a person in "stasis' would use far less resources, and weight is everything in planning space voyages.
But I'll bet waking up from that would be like the grandpappy of all hangovers... :P

Personaly...If I'm dead, dig a hole and throw me in (coffin or no coffin, I wont care...Not like I'll know the difference ::) ) and leave me the hell alone :P

If they bring a dead person back they probly wouldnt be able to speak or anything.  Probably just move to the electric shocks.  It will be interesting to see the results on humans.  Dont think it will be as great as it sounds :-/

Interesting? Bloody scary more like!

I suppose they call it progress, 100 years ago, most forms of surgery resulted in agony & death.

makes you wonder if Death will , one day, be regarded as a curable condition! - an even scarier thought !

I've been told this happens frequently. ;)
So how should we change the Star Trek quote? Maybe, "To blindly go where only body has gone before.."  Need help for this one. ???
