Great resources on their website. Flight Training is an excellent magazine that they offer to members, has lots of good info in it.

I'm not a member but $39 a year doesn't sound bad.
I am a member of the USGA (US Golf Association, the people that sponsor the US Open, among others, $25 a year) and they send me magazines, rules books, bag tags, towels, caps, programs - not all at once, mind you.
Send them $39. If you don't like it lt don't renew.
Think how your geek friends will be impressed when you walk into the pub with your AOPA baseball cap.

Let my membership lapse a while back, but I'm thinking of renewing, primarily for the insurance (just about ready to start flying again). Even for non-pilots, it's a great resource. Weather, forums, legal advice and assistance, etc..
And I agree, Flight Training is a superb magazine

It's the only hat I ever wear.

Hi spirit1flyer:
Sorry not a member of the American Owners and Pilots Association but I have used their services many many times.
I am a strong member of "COPA" which is the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association and attend many functions.
They are both great organizations but I must also add:
You only get out of an organization what you put into it. So if you are a participating member then you should get a lot of satisfaction from the organization.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Been a member for almost a year and a half. Had the 6 month trial my flight instructor signed me up for, and then I bought my own membership.
I'm contemplating renewing
