Help needed from British ex pats

Postby smashie » Wed Jun 22, 2005 5:48 am

Hi,

I'm asking this on behalf of my girlfriend who is completing her MA in journalism at the moment.

Her final project is about British people emigrating from the UK. I was wondering if there is anybody here who has or is about to leave blighty and would be prepared to fill out a brief questionnaire?

If you would like to take part then let me know and I will email you a copy.

Many thanks,

Mark

..Gawd no smashie.....just going on the experiences of a few friends and relatives who couldn't make the change to the new lifestyles.Strange to say they all loved the places they went to but just missed "home" too much.

I also know some who did make it and would never come back, including two sons of mine. One has lived in Canada for twenty years and has sons of his own....the other married a Swiss girl and lives and works there .....

Both met their wives at University...........seems that lots of expats did that. Maybe your girlfriend would be interested in finding out if it is a significant percentage...........commoner ;)

.....An exPATriate (in abbreviated form exPAT) is someone temporarily or permanently in a country and culture other than that of their upbringing and/or legal residence. The word comes for the Latin ex (out of) and patria (country), and is sometimes misspelt as ex-patriot, owing to mispronunciation.

By the way smashie..tell your girlfriend not to forget the hundreds who can't wait to get back here...the grass doesn't always turn out to be greener..........commoner ;)
