France rejects European constitution

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Tue May 31, 2005 3:24 am

Tonight Chirac will adress the French People. I personally find it rather funny that he said:

"I have noted the choice of the French people"

i believe that the UK is somewhere around 70% no 30% yes. the government might want to take note of that before they go ahead and call for a vote like france did. when they call 700+ pages a simple set of rules they need to pull their heads out.

well thats fine Bjorn you have your rules and regulations being made in a country you dont even live in by people who are not even from Germany. I'll be happy to stick with our politicians, who while not perfect have some clue as to the running of the country.

Nobody will ask us either unless they're certain we will vote Yes. That means never.

when they call 700+ pages a simple set of rules they need to pull their heads out.

700 pages of Eurospeak, bureaucratic gobbeldegook that not even the civil servants & politicians understand.

The sad thing is the EU is splitting Europe not uniting it. I live in one of the new member countries and frankly most of the stuff going on here since accession has been negative :(
If it had stayed as just a trading organisation I think "we" (big plural there) Europeans would be happier and more harmonised with one another... just my 2 pence worth.
Now where is the chocolate? ;D

Doesn't matter to me.

Having an european constitution doesn't mean that your country will be run from Brussels. The constitution is necessary as a basis for a further development of the EU. You can't run a community of 25 countries on the basis of a single treaty (trait

All the polls show That we in Holland will vote NO! I for one shall be one of the no voters! I do not wish for some vague constitution in which nothing is clear. I do not wish for a voting system which is solely based on the number of people in the country and which does not account for the balance of payments/receivings from the EU! The EU is showing her true colors by mentioning at first that ALL members must approve and after France saying that 4/5th of the members must approve! We have managed perfectly fine up untill recently. The Euro hasn't done much good too. Holland is the slowest growing economy within the Union at the moment. They said that it was impossible to survive without it, and yet somehow the U.K. is doing fine. recently we were told that Our Guilder was undervalued at the time and if that had been done properly our inflation would have drastically lessened. our Referendum is only advisory so probably our weak and half-assed government lead by a Harry Potter rip-off will say yes anyway although I hope when we vote no Our Government will fall! Needlessly to say I do not support our current Government.

Just my 2 pennies worth!
