Not really sure where this would go, so feel free to move it if need be.

Do any of you use XM?  I know Paz mentioned sat. radio in another thread, but I think he uses Sirius....

I'm considering jumping into the world of XM and I'm curious if anyone has any receiver recommendations...

I use the XM Radio that comes in a lot of GMC vehicles. It's pretty nice, has a good country station, but IMO is very lacking in the rock/alternative selections. I dunno about Sirius.

we have an XM reciever at work...but it needs to be in a window in order to work and the audio output cable is much too short.. so no XM yet. channel line-up looks decent, i think the conservative talk and country stations will do just fine.  ;D

Yeah I'm primarily thinking of getting it for work.  Good to know about the window...thanks for that tip!

Basically I want it to be able to put in the car when I wanna use it in the car (either via the FM transmitter or the cassette plug-in...I usually use either the radio or the CD player, so I might as well put the cassette deck to work. lol)

But in addition to using it at work and in the car, I'm looking for the ability to bring it camping, use it at home, etc...

my parents use it, and I have to say it's great.  Unlike regular radio, you don't really get commercials, you don't have to search for the right station, and, with all of the channels, you can find something you want.  

If you want to move it around you can get the delphi skyfi with the car kit, and then get the jukebox thingy you plug it into.

Speaking of windows, it doesn't work:

In basements
Under metal overhangs
Under overpasses
In buildings

and some other irritating places

I have it in my 'Vette, it doesn't go out completely when you go under an overpass, just gets garbled sometimes for however long you are out of the satellite LOS. I like it alot, it is great for listening to oldies (jazz, swing and the like)

Not really. It's acutally broadcast by satellites waaaay up there in that stuff they call 'space'.

I'd be using it primarily for talk radio....I have yet to find a genre of music worth listening to all day.  lol

'scuse me for beeing a total idiot about this... but could someone explaine the pros of this new techno-gizmo? Better quality? More station? What's it all about?

I understand that digital radio is a huge step forward qualitywise... but this XM-stuff does seem to work as an old-fashioned radio... Or do I get it wrong?
